Curriculum Overview

Curriculum at DIPS-G is principally American in nature, based on high standards of achievement in all areas. This broad approach is supported by a wide range of co-curricular activities which equip all students with the skills of the 21st Century.  The curriculum is planned to make teaching and learning exciting and enjoyable, challenge every child to achieve at the highest possible level, and create a safe and secure environment where every child is happy, included, valued, and prepared to make a positive impact to the society. It aims to offer breadth, balance, coherence, differentiation, and progression.

DIPS-G develops and implements a soundly planned, deep, and rich curriculum based on clearly defined expectations for student learning and which is characterized by interlocking components that together compromise to serve and achieve the clear rationale aligned to the vision and with the inclusion of Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards and Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards and Core State Standards in Arabic, Islamic, Moral Education, and UAE Social Studies standards, as well as the California State Standards in ELA, Math, and in Sciences. The school has developed Curriculum Packs that include “I Can” statements aligned 100% with the curriculum standards for English, Math, and Sciences. All this is evident in the weekly plans as well as the lesson plans, assessments, worksheets, and the interactive notebooks.

All teaching and learning practices are geared towards meeting the standards and expectations of US curriculum requirements across all disciplines and phases of the school. The curriculum design, teaching practices, and student learning experiences are all aligned with the mission as independent learning takes place in a bilingual environment.

Moreover, the curriculum at DIPS-G is aligned with the National Charter documents in Arabic and Islamic (Arabic A, Arabic B, Islamic A, and Islamic B). The curriculum is also fully compliant with statutory requirements in Arabic, Islamic, UAE Social Studies, and Moral Education Program. All teaching and learning practices are geared towards meeting the standards and expectations of UAE National Agenda and the school meets statutory requirements in these subjects across all phases.

Furthermore, DIPS-G recognizes a cultural diversity and utilizes UAE’s distinctive geography and rich history as a resource for learning through the curriculum of UAE Social Studies program and Moral Education Program (MEP). At DIPS-G, local Emirati students constitute almost 50% of the overall student population whereas the rest 50% is an international mix of a wide variety of nationalities of students who learn together collaboratively and productively due to the school-wide value system which endorses tolerance, respect, acceptance, honesty, and integrity.

Additionally, the curriculum provides students with opportunities to learn, develop, and apply skills in critical thinking through work stations, activities, projects, and problem solving opportunities. The use of open-ended questions, opportunity for students to make predictions, role play, think imaginatively and creatively ensure that students higher order thinking skills are developed.

Arabic B is curriculum of Arabic given to Non – Native Arabic Speakers

Islamic A is curriculum of Islamic given to Native Arabic Speakers.

Islamic B is curriculum of Islamic given to Non – Native Arabic Speakers
